Toy Story

Toy story is a family animation. The story consists of toys battling through the ups and downs of being toys. The toy come alive after there owner/ any humans have left. There are three movies with different story lines they are all very adventurous and comical. I really like Toys Story as it includes fast pacing action and dramatic events.
It was pixar who was approached by Disney after there success in Tin Toy. Disney wanted them to create a full length film which came to  be Toy Story.

Development in my idea.

I have been researching ideas to create my animations. At first I was looking at toys in general as in our brief we are to use toys.

I then came across dashboard hula girls which I thought would be nice to animate. I looked at various angles and close up shots in order to get an idea on how it looks. This also helps me to visualise how it moves.

I have an old teddy bear at home that I have had since I was a child. It has moveable arms and legs, I have decided to include the bear into my idea as it will be easy to animate. I now have the two characters in my animation they will battle in the film. Here are some bears I looked at.

I worked out some ideas on how they could run against each other. Since the hula girl already dances I thought that I could have a dance battle. The dance battle will include simple movements as I am not qualified to do complicated movements and I have little time to create this. I have created a quick storyboard to show what I will include I have not yet thought about camera shots yet, but it gives me an idea of what the scene will look like and what will be included.

Non-linear Deformers in maya

We have been learning how to manipulate objects in maya. I have taken screen shots to show exactly what I have been doing and how to do it.

First off you create a polygon primitive > cylinder.

Adjust the size to suit you.

Then go to the animation set, there you will find create > deformers > Nonlinear.

Using the handles on the object, you can adjust the curve etc to your liking.

I played around with it a little to get used to using the handles to manipulate the object.

Once you have finished adjusting it you can add colour and texture.

Introduction to 3D modelling

We had a short tutorial guide to introduce the most commonly used features and tools in Maya. This explained how to use maya simply. Although I did have trouble with understanding some of the directions, within the guide. This may be because i prefer to use video tutorials rather that written ones. As the show you exactly how to do it.

The tutorial showed you how to create a simple truck;

I added my own touches to the truck I created after I got used to using maya, this helped to make it my own.
