Bradford Animation Festival

Bradford Animation festival consisted of many lectures by people who have been successful in the animation industry. We also got to view many other students pieces of work. I enjoyed that as I got a lot of inspiration from them. Much of the footage was short but full of good quality. During this lecture with student films, there were a panel of academics, practitioners and industry professionals to discuss the student work.

Creating Virtual Urban environments was the first lecture on day 2 of BAF, this included talks from Martin Walker, Vanessa Boyce, Jonathon Gales and Ben Hall. Martin Walker is a lecturer at NHTV Breda university of Applied Sciences in Netherlands. His specialty is lecturing in 3D computer graphics and animation. He is also the sole owner of Complete Vision. Vanessa Boyce is an employee at Double Negative, she has had the privilege of working on many blockbuster movies such as Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia and Inception. Her latest work is the environments in Total Recall. Jonathon Gales is a founding member of Factory fifteen film studio. He specializes in short movies and animations. Ben Hall is a senior modeller and lead world designer at criterion games. Ben designs the cityscape on Burnout and Need For Speed.

My favourite lecture was by Mark Shapiro about Laika studios. He showed me how fun and exciting working in the animation is. He has showed us a team of amazing animators who created Paranorman. I hope to work in an amazing studio like that someday. Mark Shapiro is the brand manager and marketing of Laika studios.
