Renderman

Pixar have released a new rendering software that is bridged with the Foundry's KATANA asset-based look development and lighting tool set. Renderman for KATANA is available as a free plug in for KATANA users on Linux and is compatible with Renderman Pro server 18 and KATANA versions 1.5 and 1.6. Renderman is the leading VFX software used in companies all over the world and has been for 25 years. Renderman is engineered to meet the needs of 3-D animation and Visual Effects.  Pixar's Renderman is a gold standard for VFX industry. Renderman has been rendering movies for over 25 years some of the classics you may have seen have used Renderman for example; (1984) Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, (1991) Terminator II, (1991) Star Trek VI, (1991) Beauty and The Beast, (1992) Batman Returns, (1992) Aladdin, (1993) Jurassic Park, there are so many more classics that have used this software the list could go on for ages. Some of the recent movies that have used this software includes; (2012) Wreck it Ralph, (2012) Paranorman, (2012) The Hunger Games, (2012) The Avengers, (2013) Monsters University, (2013) The Hobbit - The Desolation of Smaug, again this list could go on forever if I wrote all the movies that have used this software recently.
Some of the features included in Renderman are; Camera Controls - Fast 3-D Motion Blur, Shutter Timing, True 3-D Depth of Field, Bokeh Controls and Stereo Rendering, Interactive Re-rendering, Ray Tracing, Point Based rendering, Polygons, NURBS, Subdivision surfaces, Particles, Curve Rendering, Hair and Fur and many more.
