Tim Burton
Tim Burton is a world wide known director and producer in stop motion animation. He has helped to create films such as; Nightmare before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Frankinweenie and James and the Giant Peach. Not only is he well known for creating masterful feature length films but he has also created many shorts based on the poems he has written. Tim Burton has inspired me personally as he is very good at creating dark themed animations. He uses stop motion animation a lot which is my favourite form of animation. The dark themes that he uses, are created in a comedy- horror genre which appeals to all types of audiences.
Adam Elliot is another director for stop motion animations, his animations are more based upon real life problems. For instance Mary and Max is a story around suicidal thoughts and loneliness. This film is very dark and is not for the younger audiences as the story is too mature for children. The whole animation works really well and is very pleasing to the eye. Plasticine models were used to create Mary and Max and the sheer beauty of the smoothness of the models are something that makes the characters come to life.
